Which Homestar Runner character are you?

Argh… more proof that CTV is trying to become more American.
That hideous show, “PopStars” that brought us the likes of Sugar Jones and Velvet Empire (remember them? It was, like, only last year, you know?), was supposed to enter the third season under the title, “PopStars: The One”. Don’t ask me how I know this… I watch a lot of TV, okay?
Well, it’s now being advertised as “Canadian Idol” with the same promotional graphics and style as last year’s FOX abomination, “American Idol“. WARNING: The previous link include Pop music soundtracks unless you turn off your computer speakers first.
Well, my first party went well! Lemme see if I can remember all the souls that showed up: Kendrick, Gina, Reg, Sara, Becky, Dave, Dina, Jenning, Hwan, Angela, Syl, Carmina and Simone… Paul (& son), Sabrina and Dan showed up after midnight.
The photos (for those who are interested) are now posted. For those who are interested in downloading the full-resolution photos from my camera, I’ve also posted a ZIP file.
I would say that I couldn’t have done this without Simone, but that would be lying… I could have done it, but it would have sucked. Since she did help, there was lots of food (eat), lots of beverages (drink), and lots of good times (be merry). Her help was definately essential to making the party a success. Together, I had a clean and decorated apartment to hold the party, lots of music, and tons of food.
The music was the most fun to set up. My entire CD collection (not huge, but admirable) is on my hard drive in MP3 format. After moving my monitor across the room to sit beside the 27″ television, I set up the TV as a secondary monitor, ran WinAmp with an open playlist (so people could choose a specific song to hear) and played a 3D music visualizer on the TV. Very psychedelic!
Reg also came in handy when it came to beverages. The only LCBO anywhere near my house is one that shares with a Beer Store a lot that is about as big as your typical GAP store. There was no parking (legal or otherwise) within 500 feet of the place. I offered Reg a swap of alcohol… he brings the hard-stuff for this party, and I’ll bring the hard-stuff for his bash on the 18th.
We turned on the CityTV downtown festivities 20 minutes before 2003 (and just in time for a commercial). We all celebrated at midnight with noise-makers, kisses, hugs, and drink (of course). The room went silent when Russ Meyer’s “Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!” presented B&W 60’s voluptuous women kicking ass… There were complaints and people were happier when my Lord Of The Rings DVD went on instead, but I’m still in awe of the dozen people who stopped what they were doing and started watching a movie that some later complained about… probably like watching a train wreck.
It still pisses me off that CityTV no longer plays Blade Runner at 12:05 AM every New Years Day. I think the last year they did that was 1998 New Years Day. After 19 years of Blade Runner (Original Cut) being the “First Movie of the New Year”, they just stopped for no reason. I haven’t seen the Original Cut since then… and I’m one of those “anti-purists” who liked the Bad Version more than the Director’s Cut.
Well, it was a lot of work, but I had a great time. Thanks to all who could be there. Best thing I learned about hosting your own party: You can get piss drunk and you don’t have to worry about how to get home! I enjoyed myself (even though I was on my sore feet for about ten straight hours) so I may be having a Stephen’s Birthday Bash this February.
Until then, I have to get to the LCBO before the Reg n’ Hwan Annual B-day Bash this month.
